1. brush your teeth twice a day, in the morning and evening
2. spend at least three minutes each time
3. always use a fluoride toothpaste
4. use a small toothbrush that can reach the back teeth, applying no more than a pea-sized amount of toothpaste for adults
5. flossing is very important as the toothbrush does not always reach gaps between the teeth
6. do not brush too hard – this can damage gums
7. limit your consumption of sugar and starchy foods
8. avoid sugary drinks
9. visit your dentist regularly
